My name is Deb.
I've worked in the marketing communications business for a long time.
It's crazy how much things have changed over the years, especially since the advent of social media. But there is one thing that hasn't changed — the need for smart, strategic planning and strong, relevant writing. These are still at the core of any successful internal or external communications program. I can help you keep that core strong.
I have a high need for order and I like learning new things, which is probably why I like to take on messy, complicated projects — the projects you probably avoid. For me, it's like a treasure hunt — excavating key messages from layers of neglected and replicated content, slaying jargon and bureaucratic language, and ultimately finding the gems.
I also like teaching. No single person will do all of the writing for your organization. The more people who understand the basics of using content to communicate, the more you will have clarity and consistency in your communications.
I've worked for a wide variety of clients, but am particularly experienced in the public and non-profit sectors, with clients who focus on education, youth development, housing, community and economic development and health and wellness.

My clients are smart and competent communicators. They just don't have enough time to do all of the thinking, planning and writing that is necessary to achieve their goals. They expand their capacity by hiring me.— Deb
